
Ruth Fox, CEO of Allegheny Family Network (AFN), is a co-honoree of the 2023 Gateway to Equity Award by the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The Gateway to Equity Award recognizes a person or organization who, or which, demonstrated by action or philosophy an outstanding commitment to promoting equity for women and girls and a commitment to the mission of AAUW.
“I am honored to be receiving an award from the AAUW, Fox Chapel (PA) Branch,” Ruth said. “The AAUW is a national organization of which the Fox Chapel branch is one of hundreds of local branches throughout the U.S. and with the mission of the organization being ‘to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research’, I couldn’t be more proud to be recognized in this regard.”
Cheryl Towers, Awards Chair and Co-President of the AAUW Fox Chapel Area Branch said Ruth was selected based on her commitment to equity for women and girls through her work with supporting parents and their children at AFN.
Ruth receives the honor alongside PA Supreme Court Chief Justice Debra Todd Justice Debra Todd, an Ellwood City native and resident of Pittsburgh, who was recently installed as Pennsylvania’s first female chief justice of the Commonwealth’s Supreme Court. Justice Todd has focused on raising awareness of sexual assault and abuse, elder law, and veteran’s courts. She graduated from Chatham College, BA with honors; University of Pittsburgh School of Law, JD; and University of Virginia School of Law, LLM.. The Fox Chapel Area Branch of the AAUW recognized Ruth at an Awards Ceremony in May.
AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.
